摘要
Understanding trust in automation, and by extension, in automated vehicles, has grown increasingly important as vehicles with higher levels of automation continue to become more prevalent on roadways. Appropriately interacting with automation, through calibrated trust, is paramount for avoiding accidents in these vehicles. To understand trust between humans and automated vehicles, we must first understand the foundations of trust research in the human-human trust domain. Next, the foundational work on trust in automation will provide greater context for an overview of the research in the automated vehicle domain. Finally, the chapter will conclude with future areas of research.
