Self-Peeling Reversible Dry Adhesive System

Geckos rely on mechanical toe actions for adhesion detachment. Such an internal adhesion reversal mechanism is absent from synthetic gecko adhesives. We report a self-peeling reversible dry adhesive with a dry adhesive layer and a shape memory polymer layer, the latter of which introduces a thermal adhesion reversal mechanism.
