The therapeutic effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in the context of cancer treatment is mediated by the decoupling of T lymphocytes from the inhibitory signals exerted through the PD-1/PD-L1 or CTLA4/CD80-86 axis.1 Immune-related adverse events (irAEs), potentially serious and life-threatening, can be caused, either as de-novo autoimmune conditions or as exacerbation of pre-existing ones.1
