Research on the Generation and Development of Sharing Manufacturing based on the Long Tail Theory

Based on the connotation and causes of sharing manufacturing, this paper introduces the long tail theory into sharing manufacturing, and analyses the realization path of sharing manufacturing. By building a sharing manufacturing platform to realize the sharing of manufacturing resources and production capacity, the long tail portion of the market demand curve in the manufacturing sector is continuously extended, widened, and “short head” and “long tail” are integrated to form a flat market demand and realize benefit sharing. At the same time, through the analysis of two typical cases of sharing platform “Tao Factory” and the intelligent machine tool platform i5, the commercial operation mode of sharing manufacturing platform is analyzed. In a conclusion, with the expansion and development of the sharing manufacturing platform, the long tail effect will gradually appear.
