Radiation Characteristics of Noise from Inlet and Outlet of Seawater Piping System

The inlet and outlet of the seawater pipe system of a submarine connect seawater directly, the flow pulse noise produced by pumps and valves in the system radiates out at high radiation efficiency. This condition affects immediately submarine’s concealing ability. In this paper, the noise radiation characteristics of a simulated seawater piping system disposed in rectangular basin is calculated by use of boundary element method, and some useful results are obtained from the calculation.
