12-hydroxystearic acid (12-HSA) is known to benefit skin barrier function and immunity as demonstrated from cell culture and reconstructed tissue experiments However, dermal penetration of 12HSA has not been well studied, particularly when deposited from cleansers. To assess the effectiveness of delivering 12-HSA to the viable epidermis (VE) from cleansers via ex-vivo measurements and validation of established in silico simulation methods for this active. 12-HSA delivery was quantified using ex vivo dermal delivery measurements.
