In this chapter, the removal of antibiotics was explained owing to the rapid growth of these drugs all over the world. Thus, selecting the appropriate separation process and materials are the inevitable candidates for efficient elimination. In this chapter, the adsorption and polymers were considered as the desired separation technique and adsorbent, respectively. Different polymers were discussed in this chapter including polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM), cyclodextrin (CD), microplastic (MP), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Furthermore, various effective factors such as initial concentration of drugs, contact time, pH, and textural properties of polymers, modification, and antibiotic mixtures have been investigated. Also, the isotherm and kinetic models and adsorption mechanisms were explained for a better understanding of the adsorption behaviors of antibiotics onto the surface of the polymeric adsorbents.
