Diabetes mellitus and skin diseases

Cutaneous manifestations of diabetes mellitus arc common and manifold.Changes in skin due to diabetes mellitus can be categorized into four disease groups: skin diseases associated with diabetes mellitus, skin infections, skin alterations due to diabetic complications, and reactions to antidiabetic treatment.The exact pathogenesis of most of these dcnnatoses is unknown.The management of these cutaneous manifestations is tailored according to the underlying pathophysiology, but a tight control of blood glucose is a prcrcquisite in all management strategies.
