The recycling and reuse of Ni, Co, and other rare metals from aged lithium-ion batteries have drawn much attention to the researchers, which can reduce the negative effect on the environment. In this work, a novel and facile regeneration method is proposed to obtain valuable metals Ni, Co, and Mn. The fresh LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode materials are regenerated via employing mixed acid leaching, oxalate co-precipitation, and solid-phase reaction. The regenerated LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode materials display an initial specific discharge capacity of 180.6 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C. The capacity retention is 86% after 100 cycles at the current density of 1 C. The recycling process in our work does not need complicated metal separation and has low processing costs. Moreover, the regenerated cathode materials can be reused in next-generation LIBs.
