摘要
This article reviews the recent development of compressed air energy storage (CAES) systems. It first introduced the basic working principle of the CAES system and then evaluated strategies and advanced technologies that are applied to improve the system׳s energy storage efficiency. The economics of the CAES systems and their integration with renewable energy sources were also discussed. The advanced adiabatic and isothermal-CAES systems were the main research focus while the diabatic and adiabatic CAES systems were currently used in industrial applications. The challenges and research gaps were discussed, which highlighted the future research directions for CAES systems׳ development.
