The influence of perceived usefulness in the technology acceptance model on the success of ERP implementation to support sustainability in North Sumatra’s palm oil companies

Abstract The implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning systems plays a vital role in enhancing organizational efficiency and bolstering competitive advantage. However, implementing ERP systems in North Sumatra’s palm oil companies poses a significant challenge. The present research examines the influence of perceived usefulness on the outcomes of ERP implementation in the palm oil companies. The research employed a quantitative approach, analyzing data collected through surveys from 94 ERP users. PLS Structural Equation Modeling, implemented through the Smart PLS software, served as the primary analytical framework. Data analysis demonstrated that perceived usefulness is a significant predictor of successful ERP implementation among palm oil companies in North Sumatra, with a positive relationship observed between the two variables. The implementation of ERP has facilitated sustainable management practices, enabling a transition from manual management systems towards a Gen Z management approach in the palm oil industry. Additionally, the reduction in paper usage has helped mitigate environmental impact.
