Understanding the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level is a rapidly evolving area of research. Of late, many diseased conditions have been attributed to the dysregulation of gene expression at this stage. To have better insights into the causes behind such disorders, it is imperative to develop techniques to study the regulation and regulators of post-transcriptional gene expression. This chapter provides an overview of a few techniques that target specific modes of post-transcriptional regulation during events related to RNA splicing, stability, transport, and mRNA turnover, to name a few. Techniques evaluating microRNA expression and RNA–protein interactions have also been discussed in detail.
