摘要
China is expected to host almost half of the global dementia population by 2050. 1 Feng L. Li J. Yu J.T. et al. Editorial: Prevention of Alzheimer's disease in Chinese populations: Status, challenges and directions. J Prev Alzheimers Dis. 2018; 5: 90-94 Google Scholar Such projections demand immediate preventive therapies to delay the progression of cognitive decline in the community. Motoric cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome characterized by subjective memory complaints and decreased gait speed (in older adults without dementia and mobility disability) has been shown to predict incident dementia, and hence is referred to as a predementia stage. 2 Chhetri J.K. Chan P. Vellas B. Cesari M. Motoric cognitive risk syndrome: Predictor of dementia and age-related negative outcomes. Front Med (Lausanne). 2017; 4: 166 Google Scholar , 3 Verghese J. Wang C. Lipton R.B. Holtzer R. Motoric cognitive risk syndrome and the risk of dementia. J Gerontol A Biol Sci Med Sci. 2013; 68: 412-418 Google Scholar MCR has been suggested to be an efficient tool for identifying high-risk individuals and thus could be a useful measure for preventive therapies or studies targeting dementia. Apart from a pooled analysis of MCR showing a prevalence of 12%, 4 Verghese J. Annweiler C. Ayers E. et al. Motoric cognitive risk syndrome: Multicountry prevalence and dementia risk. Neurology. 2014; 83: 718-726 Google Scholar no evidence of MCR in the Chinese community-dwelling older population has been presented till date, which was investigated in our study.
