A New Method for the Synthesis of 5-O-p-tosyl-2,3-O-isopropylidene-D-ribono-1,4-lactone

5-O-p-tosyl-2,3-O-isopropylidene-D-ribono-1,4-lactone in total yield of 57.5% was synthesized from D-ribose by oxidation,isopropylidene group protecting,and esterification.The structure was characterized by 1H NMR and IR.The synthetic process was optimized.
