摘要
R adiation therapy is the prime treatment modality against various cancers.However, its use is limited due to the lethal effects of radiation on normal tissues. [1]herefore, attempts were made earlier to improve the therapeutic effect of radiotherapy by keeping the normal tissue damage to acceptable level by using synthetic compounds like cysteine, cysteamine, and WR-2721. [2]owever, the successful use of these radioprotectants in medical practice is not appreciated much due to their inherent systemic toxicity and biological short half-life.
