Pre–bariatric surgery (BS) weight loss by the administration of a liver reducing diet (LDR) is often recommended to decrease liver volume by reducing its glycogen, water, and fatty deposits, thus minimizing the technical complexity of the procedure [1,2]. Previous studies linked presurgical LDRs to improved whole-body insulin sensitivity and reduced perioperative complications, and suggested their usage as a proxy for adherence to the medical team's advice [1,2].
