摘要
A new theoretical model was developed for the description of spherical and quasispherical solute diffusion through highly swollen polymeric networks and membranes. This model predicts that the solute diffusion coefficient depends on the solute size, the degree of swelling and mesh size or molecular weight between crosslinks of the network, and other structural characteristics of the polymer. Verification of this theory with previous experimental data suggests that although satisfactory prediction of the solute diffusion coefficient is achieved, experimental results with well-characterized amorphous, nonporous membranes are needed.
