摘要
Abstract When wound healing is compromised resulting in wound healing delay or no healing at all, it is a chronic wound and it puts at risk the body to infection and further health complications. In order to better understand the pathophysiology of chronic wounds and the defect in healing process several animal models have been developed. If they all share some similarities with human skin they also exhibit differences that requires to address the biological question with the appropriate animal model. The objective of this chapter is to focus on experimental chronic wound healing in animal models and the resulting progress in potential innovative therapeutics.
