摘要
Ferrocenes are of great interest in the fields of materials science, organic catalysis, and biomedical research. Ferrocenes bearing planar chirality have been demonstrated to be highly efficient ligands or catalysts in asymmetric reactions. In view of the atom and step economy, asymmetric direct CH bond functionalization is certainly the more straightforward method for the installation of planar chirality on ferrocene scaffold compared with conventional approaches of diastereoselective directed ortho-metalation (DoM) and enantioselective DoM. Over the past several years, a number of important advances on this topic have been achieved. In this chapter, recent developments of novel methods to synthesize planar chiral compounds via transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric CH bond functionalizations are introduced.
