Neural Processing of Social Rejection and Suicide Risk

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescent youth. Social rejection experiences is a frequent predictor of NSSI and suicidal ideation. Thus, aberrant neural function associated with affective responses to social rejection may be an important marker of SI and NSSI. The goal of the current study is to 1) validate a novel peer rejection fMI paradigm, and 2) investigate the association between neural response to peer rejection via a close friend and associations with SI and NSSI.
