Terpene-based polyamides: A sustainable polymer class with huge potential

The utilization of terpenes, a large and important group of natural products with different functions (regulators, defense signals, etc.), for the preparation of polyamides (PAs) is described herein. Suchlike approaches are very interesting regarding sustainability and bioeconomy, but also regarding the new structures and properties that can thus be achieved for this important polymer class. This is interesting from a scientific point of view regarding, for example, structure–function relations, but increasingly also regarding different applications such as high-performance or biomedical materials.
