Treating Waste with Waste: Facile Preparation of Elastic Thermoplastic Polyurethane Monolith for Efficient Oil/Water Separation

Abstract An auspicious thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) monolith has been prepared by a facile and cost-effective method of thermally induced phase separation (TIPS). With superb porous structure, excellent hydrophobicity/oleophilicity, and superior elasticity, the obtained TPU monolith exhibits an outstanding adsorption capacity, high oil/water separation efficiency, and good recycling performance, achieving the goal of treating waste with waste.
