To realize the synergistic lubrication of micro/nano-cellulose and MXene in base oil. Herein, a micro/nano-cellulose confined MXene/polytetrafluoro-wax (NC-MXene/PFW @PDA) composite was prepared by one-step hydrothermal and in-situ loading methods. It was used as a lubricant additive of PAO based oil and achieved macroscopic super lubrication on the surface of engineering steel. The tribological properties of the NC-MXene/PFW@PDA lubricant on the surface of engineering steel were tested at various contents, different loads and sliding speeds. The results show that the friction coefficient and wear rate on the steel surface are reduced by 666.7% and 89.4% respectively compared with pure PAO lubricant. Finally, the synergistic lubrication mechanism was proposed by characterizing the wear surface and performing lubrication theoretical calculations.
