Two new secondary metabolites from Oreocharis auricula and their chemotaxonomic significance

The phytochemical investigation of the traditional ethnic medicine Oreocharis auricula led to the isolation of a new furanone derivative ( 1 ), a new phenylethanoid glycoside ( 2 ), along with five known phenylethanoid glycosides ( 3 – 7 ). Their structures were elucidated by their spectroscopic data analysis. All the known compounds( 3 – 7 ) were isolated from genus Oreocharis for the first time. Furthermore, the chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates was discussed. • A new furanone derivative ( 1 ) and a new phenylethanoid glycoside were isolated from Oreocharis auricula. • All the known compounds were first isolated from the genus Oreocharis. • The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolates was discussed.
