The Play of Young Children with Visual Impairments: Characteristics and Interventions

This review of the literature examines the characteristics of the play of young children with visual impairments and suggests areas for interventions. Of particular interest are the findings that the deficits in symbolic play that these children exhibit are related to language deficits and that intervention should focus on enhancing the children’s sense of self.
