Interaction of two laser-produced cavitation bubbles near boundaries

Interaction of two simultaneously generated bubbles is investigated experimentally. When no boundary is present, the size ratio of two bubbles as well as the mutual distance is an important parameter affecting bubble migration. In addition, if a boundary is present the interaction of two bubbles is influenced by the proximity of the two bubbles to the boundary surface. In some combination of conditions, no bubble migration takes place, in which case bubble splitting may occur. Two non-simultaneously generated bubbles are also examined to obtain information about the strong bubble-bubble interaction and the induced damage pit.
