摘要
The manufacturing sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS). This paper examines the historical evolution of manufacturing, detailing the principles and benefits of I4.0 alongside the flexibility and adaptability offered by RMS. It explores the synergy between these two frameworks, highlighting their practical applications in diverse industries such as automotive, aerospace and pharmaceuticals. Despite challenges in implementation, the integration of RMS and I4.0 enhances agility, customization, quality, cost efficiency and sustainability. Future trends include edge computing, 3D printing, blockchain for supply chains, augmented reality (AR) and a focus on sustainable manufacturing. Ultimately, the convergence of RMS and I4.0 is reshaping the manufacturing landscape, offering unprecedented levels of flexibility and efficiency that position manufacturers for success in the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).
