La2Ti2O7 nanopowder is prepared through the single step autoignited combustion technique. The structural characterization is performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrational spectroscopy. The optical studies are carried out using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopic techniques. The XRD pattern shows that the structure of the compound is orthorhombic with a crystallite size of approximately 31 nm. Tauc’s plot and the optical absorption spectrum are employed to calculate the optical band gap energy. The PL studies show that the emission belongs to the violet and red spectral area. Dielectric and electrical property measurements in the temperature range 500–800°C are performed. Complex impedance analysis is used to determine the grain and grain boundary effects on the dielectric behavior of the nanoceramic.
