The role of synthesis gas, a mixture of mainly H2 and CO, in the modern chemical and energy industry is becoming increasingly significant. Considerable advancements are being made in many processes that involve methane-reforming reactions to produce syngas. This chapter discusses basic details about these processes, focusing primarily on natural gas as the feedstock and the bi-reforming of methane as the specific production method. The advantages of combining dry and steam reforming reactions over the already established sole reactions are highlighted. In addition, the properties and effectiveness of various modern catalyst systems and types of reactors are presented in detail; while a comparison of selected reactors' technical characteristics, operation conditions and product specifications, is made.
