Laser shock peening operation in aeroengine components

With the rapid development of the high-energy and high-power-density lasers, the explosion and shock waves induced by high-intensity lasers have attracted great attention in recent years. In this chapter, the research progress of laser-induced explosion and shock wave phenomena, including the laser-induced shock pressure, the scaling law of laser-induced explosive and shock waves, and the laser shock peening of aeroengine materials, are reviewed.
