Most clinical problems are caused by hydronephrosis and renal calculi. Careful attention to the anatomy, vasculature and drainage from renal pelves at the time of operation will assure good postoperative results. The Foley Y-V pyeloplasty is a highly effective procedure for relief of ureteropelvic junction obstruction in horseshoe kidneys. As with other genitourinary anomalies the presence of a horseshoe kidney should prompt a thorough urologic evaluation. © 1975 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByMargreiter M, Hernandez D, Lang E and Pavlovich C (2018) Horseshoe Kidney With Giant Hydronephrosis Secondary to Ureteropelvic Junction ObstructionJournal of Urology, VOL. 183, NO. 1, (329-329), Online publication date: 1-Jan-2010.BOVE P, ONG A, RHA K, PINTO P, JARRETT T and KAVOUSSI L (2018) Laparoscopic Management of Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction in Patients With Upper Urinary Tract AnomaliesJournal of Urology, VOL. 171, NO. 1, (77-79), Online publication date: 1-Jan-2004.RAJ G, AUGE B, WEIZER A, DENSTEDT J, WATTERSON J, BEIKO D, ASSIMOS D and PREMINGER G (2018) Percutaneous Management of Calculi Within Horseshoe KidneysJournal of Urology, VOL. 170, NO. 1, (48-51), Online publication date: 1-Jul-2003.WEIZER A, SILVERSTEIN A, AUGE B, DELVECCHIO F, RAJ G, ALBALA D, LEDER R and PREMINGER G (2018) Determining the Incidence of Horseshoe Kidney From Radiographic Data at a Single InstitutionJournal of Urology, VOL. 170, NO. 5, (1722-1726), Online publication date: 1-Nov-2003.CASCIO S, SWEENEY B, GRANATA C, PIAGGIO G, JASONNI V and PURI P (2018) Vesicoureteral Reflux and Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction in Children With Horseshoe Kidney: Treatment and OutcomeJournal of Urology, VOL. 167, NO. 6, (2566-2568), Online publication date: 1-Jun-2002.JABBOUR M, GOLDFISCHER E, STRAVODIMOS K, KLIMA W and SMITH A (2018) ENDOPYELOTOMY FOR HORSESHOE AND ECTOPIC KIDNEYSJournal of Urology, VOL. 160, NO. 3 Part 1, (694-697), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1998.Borer J, Glassberg K, Kassner E, Schulsinger D and Mooppan U (2018) Unilateral Multicystic Dysplasia in 1 Component of a Horseshoe Kidney: Case Reports and Review of the LiteratureJournal of Urology, VOL. 152, NO. 5 Part 1, (1568-1571), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1994.Esuvaranathan K, Tan E, Tung K and Foo K (2018) Stones in Horseshoe Kidneys: Results of Treatment by Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy and EndourologyJournal of Urology, VOL. 146, NO. 5, (1213-1215), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1991.Mesrobian H and Kelalis P (2018) Ureterocalicostomy: Indications and Results in 21 PatientsJournal of Urology, VOL. 142, NO. 5, (1285-1287), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1989.Fernandes M, Scheuch J and Seebode J (2018) Horseshoe Kidney with Retrocaval Ureter: A Case ReportJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 2, (362-364), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1988.Skoog S, Reed M, Gaudier F and Dunn N (2018) The Posterolateral and the Retrorenal Colon: Implication in Percutaneous Stone ExtractionJournal of Urology, VOL. 134, NO. 1, (110-112), Online publication date: 1-Jul-1985.Das S and Amar A (2018) Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction with Associated Renal AnomaliesJournal of Urology, VOL. 131, NO. 5, (872-874), Online publication date: 1-May-1984.Anderson E (2018) Editorial CommentJournal of Urology, VOL. 131, NO. 5, (874-874), Online publication date: 1-May-1984.Kumeda K, Takamatsu M, Sone M, Yasukawa S, Doi J and Ohkawa T (2018) Horseshoe Kidney with Retrocaval Ureter: A Case ReportJournal of Urology, VOL. 128, NO. 2, (361-362), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1982.Evans W and Resnick M (2018) Horseshoe Kidney and UrolithiasisJournal of Urology, VOL. 125, NO. 5, (620-621), Online publication date: 1-May-1981.Karmi S (2018) Rare Urologic Pathology Presenting as Abdominal Masses in ChildrenJournal of Urology, VOL. 118, NO. 3, (431-433), Online publication date: 1-Sep-1977.
