Abstract The luminescence properties of blue-green phosphor CaSnO3 doped with Pr3+ and Bi3+ ions were studied in this paper. In the emission spectrum of the sample doped with Pr3+, the main emission peak at 490 nm and the weak emission peaks at 533 and 615 nm were generated under excitation at 260 nm, corresponding to the transitions of 3P0 → 3H4, 3P0 → 3H5 and 1D2 → 3H4 of Pr3+, respectively. When the sample was doped with Bi3+, a broadband emission centered at 435 nm was the result of the transition of 3P1 → 1S0 of Bi3+. While Bi3+ ions were codoped into CaSnO3:Pr3+, the emission color could be changed from green to blue-green by varying the concentration of Bi3+ ions due to the energy transfer between Bi3+ and Pr3+. Moreover, CaSnO3:Pr3+, Bi3+ phosphors had excellent thermal stability. The emission intensity remained at 75.2% at 450 K compared to that at room temperature.
