摘要
In the advanced energy transfer and storage sectors, the development of two-dimensional (2D) materials for highly performing electrolytes has appeared as a solution. Researchers have been showing interest in MXene, an advanced novel 2D material that comprises transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides due to its outstanding characteristics including their rich hydrophilic surface functional groups, high ionic conductivity, and hydrophilicity. This review discussed the evolvement of 2D MXenes for efficient energy applications. We emphasized MXenes’ potential as an electrolyte in electrochemical energy systems including batteries, microsupercapacitors, and fuel cells. We also reviewed their potential as electrolytes in other devices such as electrochromic devices and iontronics. Furthermore, the challenges and significance of MXenes have been touched briefly. The latest developments and successes of MXene-based electrolytes are also presented.
