摘要
Here, acid rain effects on the environment and other living species are reported. Normal rain has a pH of 5.0–5.5, whereas typical acid rain with a lower than five pH has more detrimental effects on the environment and human liveliness. Acid precipitation is the phenomenon where acid forms in the earth's atmosphere due to the liberations of oxides of sulfur and nitrogen. According to a WHO report, 36% and 34% of deaths yearly occur due to lung cancer and strokes. These oxides are formed due to the combustion of fossil fuels like gasoline, coal, oil, etc. An adverse effect of acid rain is increasing the pH level in soil and ocean, affecting the amphibian ecosystem's briskness. In addition, these rain effects are captivated by mortals (humans and animals), which have the same effects on them. Acid deposition has a huge impact on the old monuments as it has the composition of marble, limestone, granite, and sandstone, which are eroding nature by acid rain. Not only monuments but also buildings have been eroding because of calcium carbonate, which is present in cement as actively able to react with acid rain. Moreover, high levels of nitrogen and sulfur oxides are the main causes of acid rain, which originated among the large industries and power plants found in that region. Until now, various countries like India, Europe, and North America are taking measures to minimize or control the effect of acid deposition.
