Cancer patients require regular testing at hospitals to understand the effects of their received treatments. Under normal conditions, it is required to determine the status of the tumor that imageology, pathological, and molecular examination. However, this requirement presents some inevitable issues, including the physical injury, radiation damage, high costs, and expending much time, energy, and money. As a result, the molecular examination is a potential approach to realize the portable clinical diagnosis and illness monitoring just like blood glucose monitoring. Inspired by portable glucose electrochemical assay, we designed a portable glucometer (PGM)-based immunosensor for point-of-care quantitative detection of tumor markers. Glucose oxidase-Cu-antibody, as an immunoprobe, can catalyze the degradation of glucose, resulting in the residual glucose for quantitative readout by the PGM. This PGM-based immunosensor showed a widely linear range and demonstrated great consistency with a standard assay. With the advantages of low cost, good efficiency, and simple operation, the proposed sensor exhibits the potential to be used at home for timely tracking the treatment effects.
