Gender Differences

Research has consistently demonstrated that males and females do not differ in terms of creative potential, yet a gender gap in creative performance quality exists in many scientific and artistic fields. Both biological and socio-cultural explanations for this disconnect have been offered and tested, and it is likely that both factors are necessary to fully explain the phenomenon. This article examines theories from each viewpoint, and synthesizes the major concepts and conclusions regarding gender differences in creativity.
