Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a worldwide disease, and also the main cause of pain and disability in the motor system. Due to the aging population in China, extension of life expectancy and increased number of obese people, the number of people affected by KOA continues to surge. Neither surgical nor non-surgical treatment can change the disease process, but these interventions can reduce pain and disability. The treatment principle of KOA is to start with non-surgical treatment, which has been considered as the first choice for KOA patients due to its advantages of less complications, minimal invasiveness, and low medical cost.
