The spike in the elderly population and the heightened demand for eldercare pose substantial challenges to global healthcare systems. In response, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) have emerged as transformative tools for monitoring and supporting independent living among the elderly. This chapter explores how the integration of AI and IoMT can enhance the quality of life, healthcare, and well-being of elderly individuals. Employing a sophisticated network of medical devices and sensors, real-time data on health, daily activities, and environmental conditions is collected. Advanced AI algorithms analyze this data, offering timely health updates, adept anomaly detection, and risk prediction. The seamless integration of AI and IoMT establishes dynamic communication loops among elderly adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, enabling remote monitoring and accessible telehealth services. The chapter also addresses challenges, ethical considerations, and technological advancements in AI-powered IoMT solutions for elderly (geriatric) care. Emphasizing potential cost savings and improved healthcare outcomes in an aging world, these systems empower elderly adults to maintain autonomy while receiving proactive and personalized care.
