Amprion sets sail: the next big step in offshore grid integration

A massive expansion of offshore wind capacity is targeted over the next few decades. Analyses suggest that the socio-economic benefits can be increased by interconnecting offshore systems. This article describes the precautions and boundary conditions as well as the challenges for an offshore interconnection. Furthermore, this article also presents the current approach of Amprion to achieve the goal of a future efficient offshore grid.
