Use of Anterior Chamber Paracentesis for Diagnosis in Viral Anterior Uveitis

Anterior uveitis has the highest prevalence among infectious uveitis, and viral infections are among the most common causes. The consequences of delayed or incorrect diagnoses can be severe.1 An empirical diagnosis of viral anterior uveitis is frequently made based solely on clinical history and examination findings. However, misdiagnosis of this disease is common. A study showed low interobserver agreement for viral anterior uveitis diagnosis among uveitis experts (κ = 0.32–0.79 for different causes of viral anterior uveitis).
