FACIAL SCANNING WITH HANDHELD STRUCTURED LIGHT SCANNER VERSUS A STATIC STEREOPHOTOGRAMMETRY SYSTEM. A COMPARISON BETWEEN THREE THREE-DIMENSIONAL SURFACE IMAGING SYSTEMS

Introduction: Three-dimensional (3D) surface imaging of the face can be used to assess changes following craniomaxillofacial surgery for analysis, surgical planning and research purposes. Several imaging systems are available and suitable to scan the face. Before they can be implemented into practice there is a need to test their reliability. Our aim was therefore to compare a static stereophotogrammetry setup with handheld structured light scanners in order to assess their intra- and intersystem reliability.
