The Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS‐IV)

Assessment of memory is important, as memory impacts our daily behavior, social interactions, and is a key symptom in a number of disorders. The Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS-IV) is a comprehensive tool for assessing verbal, visual, working, and recognition memory. It has a long history dating back to 1945 and has since undergone a number of revisions that reflect our understanding about the nature of the brain and memory functioning. It will likely continue to be adapted overtime as new knowledge in the field is gained.
