Raney Ni as Recyclable and Selective Catalyst for the Reduction of α‐Pinene to cis‐Pinane with NaBH4 at Room Temperature

Abstract Raney Ni was introduced to catalyze the reduction of α‐pinene to cis ‐pinane by NaBH 4 at room temperature. The catalyst showed good activity, selectivity and recyclability in ethanol during the reaction. Deuterium experiments indicated that hydrogen source for the reaction should derive from NaBH 4 and ethanol.
