Research on Chinese medicine animal models has lasted for more than fifty years,which has become gradually mature,progressive development and constant improvement; but there are still some conceptual confusions,fuzzy classifications,unclear researching ideas and modeling methods and unimproved evaluative systems. To identify the origin of Chinese medicine animal models and clarify the distinction among Chinese medicine theoretical models,Chinese medicine physical models and Chinese medicine animal models. Meanwhile,physical models and Chinese medicine animal models,to better understand the characteristics of Chinese medicine animal models,which have been subdivided into animal disease models,syndrome animal models and animal models of combination of disease and syndrome,that also makes some complementary explanation of other models classifications. On this basis,the article makes a deep conclusion of the idea of Chinese medicine animal models and modeling methods to provide a method and basis of the study of Chinese medicine animal models. Because of their theoretical characteristics,Chinese medicine animal model's evaluation also has its particularity,which can be divided into general Chinese medicine evaluation and aiding western methodology evaluation. With the continuous development of science and technology,the evaluation of Chinese medicine animal models tends to be standardization,objectification and normalization. The quick development of studies in Chinese medicine animal models and the continuous improvement of more diseases and syndrome animal models,those are all lay a solid foundation for Chinese medicine's deep study of diseases and syndromes.
