摘要
1. The examination of 2 unknown derivatives of indole accumulated by certain trp− mutants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (cf. preceding paper) led to the identification of 2-oxo-3-(3-indolyl)-propan-1-ol and 3-(3,3-diindolyl)-propan-1,2-diol. The structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods. 3-(3,3-Diindolyl)-propan-1,2-diol was synthesized. 2. 2-Oxo-3-(3-indolyl)-propan-1-ol and 3-(3,3-diindolyl)-propan-1,2-diol were formed from 3-(3-indolyl)-glycerol under acid conditions. 3. We found that 3-(3-indolyl)-glycerol 1-phosphate is converted to a mixture of 3-(3,3-diindolyl)-propan-1,2-diol 1-phosphate and 2-oxo-3-(3-indolyl)-propanol 1-phosphate by the crude extract of a trp− mutant of S. cerevisiae genetically blocked. before indole. 4. Suitably blocked trp− mutants of S. cerevisiae accumulate a mixture of anthranilic acid and two derivatives of anthranilic acid without free carboxyl groups. Possible structures are discussed on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic results.
