摘要
Traditional cancer treatment faces the problems of limited therapeutic efficiency, severe adverse reactions, and/or infection, bleeding, and tissue defects after tumor surgery. Electrospun nanofiber-derived scaffolds emerge as a promising platform for cancer therapy, allowing the delivery of therapeutic components in the target sites, minimizing adverse effects on normal tissues, and offering functional versatility. This comprehensive review explores state-of-the-art research on electrospun nanofibers or their derived composite scaffolds in the realm of cancer treatment, various modalities are employed, covering chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy, thermal therapy, gene therapy, antitumor combination therapy, and multifunctional therapy. Moreover, it thoroughly examines the existing challenges and potential breakthroughs in the clinical translation of this innovative platform for localized cancer treatment. The insights provided in this review aim to guide the utilization of electrospun nanofiber-derived scaffolds for achieving enhanced cancer therapy.
