Inpyrfluxam is a new, broad-spectrum, succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide discovered by the Sumitomo Chemical Company. This compound shows strong growth suppression of Basidiomycota and Ascomycota fungi and efficiently controls Asian soybean rust (ASR). In Brazil, soybean farmers are struggling to control this disease owing to the development of resistance against major fungicides, including SDHIs. Interestingly, inpyrfluxam is effective in controlling ASR, even in fields with putative SDHI-resistant populations, suggesting this compound as a new solution for soybean farmers. The internal code of inpyrfluxam at Sumitomo Chemical is S-2399. It is being developed globally as INDIFLIN with its first registration and sales anticipated in 2020. In this chapter the discovery of inpyrfluxam and its biological profile are reported.
