摘要
Cyclodextrin (CDs) are known to form inclusion complexes with small molecules and ions. The authors found that CDs formed inclusion complexes not only with small molecules but also with various polymers with high selectivity. We have prepared polyrotaxanes by capping the both ends of the polymers in the polyrotaxanes with bulky capping agents. We have also prepared tubular polymers starting from the polyrotaxanes. We found that CD polymers and guest polymers formed gels in aqueous media. Macroscopic self-assembly has been achieved by using CD gels and guest gels. Self-healing materials have been realized using CD-guest polymers. When azobenzene was used, photo-responsive materials have been obtained. When ferrocene was used, redox-responsive materials have been obtained.
