摘要
Liquid crystal (LC) is an anisotropic fluid that exhibits both properties of solid and liquid. As its name suggests, it is an intermediate phase of matter in between the liquid and crystal. The molecules in a crystal possess both positional and orientational order, while the molecules in a liquid do not have any order and can move freely in a random manner. The liquid crystal molecules possess orientational and partial translational order. LC can flow like a liquid and at the same time, its molecules may be oriented in a certain direction like the molecules in a crystal do. The effect of CNTs on the fundamental properties of LC components, including electrical, optical, thermal, and mechanical anisotropy, molecular ordering and the variation of phase transitions, are some of the problems deserving of future investigation. Essentially, research into the particularities of CNT design and implementation and percolation of CNTs in mesophases of various symmetry, origin, and phase transition process will be intriguing.
