摘要
The role of film in the interrogation and construction of identity is the principal focus of this analysis of the Icelandic film, Cold Fever. The device of the journey is shown to be well suited to the exploration of boundaries between self and other, memory and myth, and between disparate languages and cultures. The film also articulates concepts of identity through its spatial construct, and the whiteness of the Icelandic landscape, merging with the whiteness of the cinema screen, draws attention to its self-conscious recognition of the role of cinema in the discovery and articulation of identity.
